Welcome to the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education!

Welcome to the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education! Since 2006, the AABHE has organized and made a successful transition from the Black Caucus of the former American Association of Higher Education. This reformation retained many of the principles held by the Black Caucus, which included promoting the educational and professional needs and accomplishments of Blacks in higher education.

Two key attributes of the AABHE are to facilitate and provide opportunities for collaborating and networking among individuals, institutions, groups and agencies in higher education across the United States and internationally. This is done through the following programs:

        * The National Conference/Summits on Blacks in Higher Education that are held annually

        * The Graduate Student Initiative, which recognizes doctoral students by providing them with a public forum for their research

        * The Leadership and Mentoring Institute that has provided over 200 higher education professionals the requisite information and skills to prepare them for senior administrative and faculty positions since 2003

        * The Educational Study Abroad Program that establishes educational links with countries throughout the African Diaspora

In addition to the above, the AABHE is highly concerned about the staggering numbers of African American students, who for a number of reasons are unable to successfully matriculate from K-12, and from high school to college. Until things change, we will continue to address these pipeline issues as we have done in our previous conferences and summits.
