Iris
Outlaw has been the director of Multicultural Student
Programs and Services at the University of Notre Dame
for fifteen years. In this capacity, Ms. Outlaw has
conducted diversity workshops for national and
international conferences, leadership training seminars
and school systems. Ms. Outlaw also teaches the
Cultural Diversity Seminar and co-teaches the Practicum
on Diversity Education course at the University of Notre
Dame. Ms. Outlaw is an
ex-officio member of the University Committee on
Cultural Diversity. She has served twice on the NCAA
Accreditation Self-Study team. Ms. Outlaw held the
positions of secretary and the treasurer for the former
American Association for Higher Education’s (AAHE) Black
Caucus for two terms. Ms. Outlaw was a member of the
Caucus’ Doctoral Student Awards Committee and Awards
Committee for numerous years. She also served as the
Caucus’ Local Arrangements Chair and Co-Chair for the
National Conference and Summit I & II. Ms. Outlaw is the
current treasurer of the American Association for Blacks
in Higher Education (former AAHE Black Caucus).
Ms. Outlaw has served on numerous community/civic boards
in her local community. She holds officer positions on
the Indiana University Groups Alumni Association and
University of Notre Dame Black Alumni Association
boards. She is the current president for the Eta Mu
Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Ms.
Outlaw received her BA from Indiana University and
Masters in Science Administration from the University of
Notre Dame. She is certified in diversity training from
the National Multicultural
Institute and Texas A & M University’s Diversity
Education Institute.
